On Wednesday 14th September The Big Summer Party returned after three long years. With the shutting of Laithwaites under the Arch at London Bridge, a new venue was required and we lucked out. The room on Brook Street, courtesy of Illuminate Productions, overlooked Claridge’s and provided the perfect space for a small but perfectly formed gathering to enjoy some great wine, fine chat and a few nibbles. Sponsored by Prevision Research – the data collection experts and hosted by the super team from Laithwaites, the evening got off to a fine start with some on arrival fizz. Prosecco was very much 2019, Crémant is what you need and it flowed very nicely (probably too well) before the wine tasting started.
We were given a guided tour of six wines (3 white and 3 red), by Michael from Laithwaites, with the highlights being a Greek white (who knew) and a red with a hit of Chocolate – check out Chocolate Block Fine Wine – quiet something. A lot of wine was certainly tasted and Karolina and Libby made sure no one ever had an empty glass! The evening came to a close with a Call My Bluff, blind tasting and in teams of 4, everyone’s healthy competitive streaks came out with the winning team receiving a bottle to take home. And after two and a half hours everyone went home more knowledgeable (maybe) but certainly more oiled than they were when they arrived!

A big thank you to the team from Laithwaites, Michael, Libby and Karolina for organising a great event and a most enjoyable evening – you looked after us all, way too well. It was good to be back after three years and everyone clearly enjoyed the evening and maybe even learnt something!
